This is a rare opportunity to pick up one of the rarest bottles from NZ Whisky Co. The NZ Whisky Co. 18 YO Oamaruvian is a Cask Strength Single Cask Release bottled exclusively for The Whisky Show 2019. Limited to 210 bottles, each individually numbered and is presented in a gift box. This cask was selected by a panel and selected specially for the Whisky show and the proof is in the pudding… it was the single biggest selling whisky at the 2019 Whisky Show across Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane.

This will also be the last time the Oamaruvian has been bottled as a 500ml. All future releases are 350ml, due to dwindling stocks. A blend of 70% single malt, and 30% grain whisky produced from unmalted barley. Matured for 6 years in ex-bourbon barrels, then finished in French Oak NZ wine barrels for a further 12 years.

Colour: Dark cherry wood

Nose: Bold port-soaked raisins followed by dark cherries, cloves and various stone fruits. Water and time brings out pecan praline, almonds and balsamic reduction glaze.

Taste: Dried fruits dominate, including dried cherries and strawberries, intertwined with almonds and nutmeg. Definitely benefits from time in the glass to subdue some underlying tannins.

Finish: A slightly dry finish, with spices and sweetnesses. Specially selected New Zealand DoubleWood casks chosen for their rich toffee, floral nose and creaming soda mouth-feel with a hint of Oamaru sea spray to finish.
